Joining the fun: Facebook Cartoon Profile Pic

A couple of my friends recently replaced their Facebook profile pictures with their favorite childhood cartoon character. Since I don’t want to be left behind… I have decided to join the fun! Hence, I’ll be using Huckleberry Finn as my picture for the entire month of December. =0)

This is the trend spreading throughout Facebook users where some status updates say that the objective of the game is to support or celebrate the Week for Children’s Right. Others indicated a specific date in their shout outs when this cartoon profile pic will end. Regardless, I think it’s not a bad idea to do so since every user has control of their own profile picture settings. Besides, it’s pretty fun reminiscing our favorite cartoon characters in the past.

I remember when I was a kid I always cry whenever I fail to see the tagalized episodes of Princess Sarah, Cedie, Huck Finn, Mary and The Secret Garden, and others. I also remember the days when (even) our mom will watch with us because these cartoon series have inspiring, and at the same time impressive, plot…plus, they're cartoons! And that means a lot for kids like me. (“>)

And just to share with you, I was planning to use this picture but I don’t think it’s appropriate for children to see. (pun intended of course!)

Today is the first day of December… 24 more days to wait and its Christmas time again.

But the weather seems to be a little bit weird. I still can’t feel the cold breeze outside, it feels more like SUMMER..! =0)

Anyway, I was reading today’s issue of Philippine Daily Inquirer while on our way to my lola’s house. And the front page was Miko’s article sharing the trouble (or hazard if I may say) that he and his family is currently facing caused by one mistweet.

PDI reporter fears for life over Tim Yap tweet

SO THIS is probably how a lottery jackpot winner feels— paranoid, insecure and uneasy.

But in my case, I’m neither P741 million richer nor a consolation prize winner, and yet I share the burden of themystery bettor.

On Monday night, I filed breaking news on the winning combination of the 6/ 55 Grand Lotto, a much anticipated result because the jackpot was the biggest prize ever in the country’s lottery.

Monitoring the radio, I took note of the numbers and sent them as soon as the combination was complete. I was told the combination was flashed on the Inquirer. net website, sent via SMS and Twitter.

A call to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office turned my draft— which assumed there was no winner since bettors were luckless the past 85 times— 180 degrees. “ There is a winner from Luzon,” PCSO assistant general manager Liza Gabuyo told me.

Adrenaline rush

The adrenaline rushed through my veins. I told myself the one in a 29 million chance did exist. It was the odds a punter must hurdle to win the top prize.

I called up the duty editor to inform him that there was a winner, and that I would file a story shortly. I rehashed a draft I prepared last week.

I sent a one-line e-mail to our Twitter operator saying “ One winner from Luzon confirmed.”

Minutes later, I filed the story, headed home and called it a night.

Unthinkable

Then the unthinkable happened.

“ Did you really win the Grand Lotto?” was the first line my college pal told me as he rang my phone.

“ Huh? I didn’t even get a chance to place my bet,” I replied.

“ You should tune in to Magic 89.9 because people are saying you won,” he said. I tuned in to the FM radio station only to miss the announcement.

Call from mother

My mother was the second person to call me up. She posed the same question. I gave her the same answer, and she said my sister was being asked by her friends about Monday night’s draw. Mymother passed the phone to my sister, who said her friends had learned about the information via Twitter.

I mumbled profanities and curses on my way home. Once there, I immediately logged onto my social networking accounts. To my surprise, what my friend, mother and sister had told me was no bad joke; people took the information as gospel truth.

Stream of messages

I had over 100 people I never personally met asking me to add them as a “ friend,” while a stream of congratulatory messages flooded my inbox. I told myself the situation was getting out of hand.

The first thing I did was to snoop around while replying to concerned friends who exerted efforts in trying to clear the miscommunication. The snafu even reached a couple of my friends based overseas who also tried to clarify the issue by sending retweets.

I discovered who the culprit was.

Tim Yap

Apparently, it was celebrity host Tim Yap who branded me the winner in his tweet a few hours earlier.

“ Eto na, PCSO confirms one winner— his name is Miko Morelos. He gets to take home the P741.2M peso Grand Lotto 6/ 55 Jackpot!# magtagokana!” he said in his Twitter account (@ iamtimyap TimYap)

The first thing that crossed my mind was how clueless Yap was on the subject. The PCSO does not disclose the identity of any winner for obvious security reasons.

What was appalling was the hundreds of people falling for the false information. They even set up a fan page on Facebook encouraging me to spend the money wisely, while not taking seriously the clarifications from the INQUIRER Twitter account and “ Mr. Bigshot socialite” ( Yap) himself.

Yap continued with his tweets: “ And guess what? Miko Morelos is on twitter! @ mikomorelos I already sent a request. He protected his tweets already. # afraidforhislife,” @ iamtimyap TimYap said.

He tried to clarify the matter when he tweeted: “ Okay, ladies& gents excited about the winner of the lotto jackpot— I received reports that Miko Morelos is the INQUIRER reporter who reported about the lotto. Not necessarily the winner. # sorrynacarriedawaylahat.”

( I personally find the hashtags contentious bordering on the malicious.)

Damage done

The damage had been done.

My mother calledme up yesterday afternoon saying the classmates of my sisters appeared to be convinced that I won the jackpot, no matter how much they denied the information.

With the desperate times as indicated by the surge in petty crimes in the streets, I feared for our safety.

I commute to work from our house and the dangers of public transport are as obvious as the color of the sky. My family, likewise, does the same.

Precautions

I’ve taken precautions to salvagewhatwas left of my identity in my social networking accounts, claiming a copyright infringement on my part for the unauthorized use ofmy name on the Facebook pages ( including the one that’s supporting me for the sake of a level playing field).

What bothers me is how people take information at face value, without reading or even processing these bits to form a coherent thought. Is this a sign of the times that people aren’t thinking critically anymore? I hope not. ( And even if I did win the jackpot, you probably wouldn’t see my byline tomorrow.)

Ituloy Mo Lang

I asked a friend of mine last Saturday to send me a list of OPMs to download since I want to update the tracks of my music player. I started downloading the songs last Monday and I listened to some of them yesterday while I was cleaning my closet. Then suddenly, I heard these lines from one of the songs:

I was surprised when I learned later that this song came from Siakol's latest studio album (Tropa). The song was titled "Ituloy Mo Lang" which is evidently created to inspire Filipino men like 'me'. Knowing that Siakol is a band composed of straight guys, I appreciate the time and effort they spent in creating this song--- I certainly like the message..!

Bachelor Bash 2010

Cosmpolitan Philippines' wild 2010 Bachelor Bash was held last week, Thursday night, at the World Trade Center. And yes, I wasn't there again... intentionally, since I can't skip work.. It has been 6 years since I attended this event at the Fort--- and I have a strong feeling that I'll be able to by next year (fingers crossed). Leaders’ Boot Camp

This month of September, my employer will be sending its leaders (supervisors and managers) to a two-day boot camp in Caliraya, Lumban, Laguna. Clearly, not everyone can be sent on the same day (contingency wise) so we were divided into three batches. The first batch of supervisors went there last September 3-4, the second batch is going this Friday, September 10-11, and all the managers on September 16-17. Trainers on supervisory level are also part of this event… Luckily, I was part of the first batch that went to Laguna last Friday. I don’t want to be the last person to experience, you know.

Caliraya Recreation Center was the chosen venue of our boot camp. It’s a 2-3 hour ride from Manila… well, depending on the traffic and if the driver is aware of the short cut roads in Calamba. I’ve been to Caliraya a couple of times when I was a kid since my father grew up in Kalayaan, which is the next town. We loved to go to The Japanese Garden because of the beautiful scenery of assorted local and imported flowers. More than fifteen years fast forward, I’m going back to Caliraya for a different purpose.

Given the travel time, we were told to gather at around 530 in the morning so the bus can leave at exactly 6am… Yes, we’re riding a BUS--- I miss my field trip days back in elementary and high school. I took out my camera with all the excitement and boom, I can’t turn it on… the battery was corrupted.. it needed replacement.. I knew it! So unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take pictures. I just shared the KODAK moments with other leaders and friends who brought their more-high tech digital cameras. =(

It was almost 11am when we arrived at the place, which means we have less than two hours to rest before we eat our lunch and start the activities. We all quickly headed to our lodges… yes, lodges, what do you expect..? this is a boot camp so everyone will be staying in one room. The girls will be sharing in two lodges (Lodge 1 and 2) and the boys will be sharing in one (Lodge 3) --- that made me smile! Just kidding! Each lodge was divided into two floors.. so the three ‘beautiful’ boys of Lodge 3 (including myself) occupied the 2nd floor… we’re afraid to be raped of course, LOL!

To cut the story short (and not to spoil the experience of those who are part of the next batches), the activity went smoothly, no accidents or emergencies whatsoever, and ended at around 10 in the evening. Genesis1 Dynamics, led by Sir Alfred Yap, facilitated the teambuilding conference. At the end of the day, everyone was tired and wants to sleep but we brought in our bed an experience that is worth the wait.

One of the activities that made me feel like a 60-year old man with aching joints and ligaments is the Algorithm march. I’ve seen this performed by PBB teens before but I never thought it will cause pain that will last for three days… and I am not kidding.. perhaps because we have to make the performance close to ‘perfection’ during the activity since it was a competition, so we have to do it x number of times… and that created trouble! Blood pumping!

Straight from work, I bought my own copy of Spartacus' first season earlier today. Seeing gladiators, all sweaty and bloody, makes my own blood uncontrollable for hours! Ü Well, what can I say? Andy Whitfield (born 1974) is truly a HOTTIE..!

There were lots of action in the series, pretty much like the film 300, but I guess this one is 'bloodier', hence the title BLOOD and SAND perhaps. And of course, there were lots of shirtless gladiators and a couple of frontals (my prime motive of grabbing a copy)! LOL!

Great performance deserves great recognition. Bow.

I am not the type of person who will kill to get an award or be recognized at work for stellar contributions and achievements. I’d rather kill someone undeserving and yet being awarded and applauded! Of course I’m kidding… but I am just being HONEST. I think it is important that employers should put extra care in recognizing the ‘best assets’ of the company, otherwise it may result to catastrophe in the organization.

Suddenly writing this post, I am evidently beating around the bush and don’t want to be straightforward. But I know that this blog is the only place where I can vent out my thoughts on this subject. Sigh.

Thank goodness I still know how to become an obedient ~~human~~ employee.

The Harry Potter theme park

Last June, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter officially opened to the public. This Harry Potter theme park is the latest attraction in Orlando, Florida and is drawing a large crowd everyday since its inauguration.

Daniel Radcliffe, the Harry Potter star, was present during the opening ceremonies and led a group of excited kids dressed in Hogwarts uniform as they tour around the park.

I have been wanting to create this post from the first time I watched Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Manchester United back in 2007. I can't remember if they won that game because I have to go to work but one thing that I am sure of-- win or lose, I'm in love with him. LOL!

Early this year, I learned that he's now one of the most expensive football players in the world after being transferred to Real Madrid in a transfer deal that is worth approximately $130 million dollars. So, who wouldn't want to become Mrs. Ronaldo eh?

And he's not contented with his football career... needless to say that he's rich and famous, he has also showed his skin for Emporio Armani underwear. I'm wondering if there will be a Beckham-Ronaldo Armani ad posing almost nekkid side by side. :)

It feels good not to work this first MONDAY of the month. I'm enjoying the long weekend because tomorrow night, I'll be back to reality. By the way, just to share with you... For the last 6 months, I've been hooked to a lot of Korean dramas.. It started with Boys Over Flowers and the rest is history. And honestly, there are plenty of cute Korean guys.. But kidding aside, what I like are the 'kilig moments' brought by these Korean TV series. Some would say that the concept of their stories are almost similar to one another but hell I care... I enjoyed watching their series and I will keep on buying them.

One of my Korean crushes is Lee Dong Wook. He's the male lead of My Girl which was tagalized by ABS-CBN back in 2005. And I was told that he visited Manila back in 2006.. (Goodness! Where and what am I doing that time??)

Weekend Proposal

I was reunited once again with my movie buddies at work last Friday. Right after our shift, we went to the nearest movie house to watch ‘The Proposal’. We had a quick meal first at Sbarro prior to watching the movie.

The film was hilarious! I just hoped that it wasn’t Sandra Bullock who played Margaret’s role. It’s not that I don’t like her; she was great in that movie. It’s just that I feel she’s too old for Ryan or too mature if that’s the right word (talking about MILF? ^_^)

Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, was great. His acting was almost authentic and he was able to match Sandra’s performance. I can’t believe he can do comedy. And- what else could I say- smokin’ HOT! But one realization though: his butt is not that good. I mean, it’s a little too flat, isn’t it? Or I’m just blind. But overall, he’s gorgeous!

Recommendation: Go and watch it! FOUR stars from me. Meg and JM agreed anyway. =)

family affairs

I have almost forgotten how it was like to have a family. With so many things in my mind – work, priorities, desires… – I almost failed to realize that I still have a family who would like to be with me when they go out, when they watch TV, when they eat… Not to mention the nature of my work, it was almost impossible to adjust my body clock, even during weekends, to meet their demands.

I congratulate myself though. I was able to spend quality time with my folks last Saturday. Like they always say, if there’s a will, there’s a way (there's ALWAYS a way).

We had our dinner at RACKS Restaurant in Festival Mall. We seldom do this kind of stuff anymore since my father’s death back in ’05. It just reminds us that we are no longer complete, nor will ever be complete, in the dining table. But last Saturday was different. We managed to be happy. It feels great as we catch up with everyone. It was even more fun as we were joined by my cousin who celebrated her birthday last week and Rev. Father Nady (a close family friend) who also celebrated his birthday yesterday.

We finished the night eating Tiramisu at home prepared by mom. It was lovely and wonderful- my stomach was full and the experience was far-fetched. And that, I should say, was one of the best Saturdays I ever had. I know there’s more to come.

I just celebrated my birthday recently and I realized that I'm aging backwards!

Why did I say that? Well, because lately I've been spending too much time watching.... chadan-- oriental novelas!

And it's not just appreciating the show but giggling over the cute characters like the guy in Hana Kimi and Princess Hours and now, Boys Over Flowers! I don't have the teenage libido like when I was in college but I just can't help it (pun intended of course!).

All of a sudden, I found myself browsing the web and going gaga over anti-aging products. From skin pills to the phenomenal effects of D’Tox and Botox.

I’m wondering if this is kinda like a “post-Benjamin Button” syndrome. I became conscious of my skin out of the blue and started asking my friends on how I can avoid the early signs of fading beauty, haha!

I’m just 26 for Pete’s sake! Ü I shouldn’t be worried at all- should I say it’s too early to be bothered.

For about a week now, I’ve been taking my own share of Vitamin E. I guess that is enough in the meantime- it gives me a relief somehow.

Let me share you this. I was at Temple Bar in Greenbelt about two Saturdays ago with my former JPMorganChase colleagues. It’s been what?... a year and a half or two years since we last saw each other-- and then came the QUESTION OF THE DAY: Anong nangyari sayo? Parang tumanda ka ata? I said: di naman… dame kasi trabaho (sigh).

Realization: Thanks to my job. At least I have something to pass the blame on for looking “mature”.

That’s all so far what I can write after days or months of being silent in the blog land. I’ll leave you with some facts (hehe) on why it is better to be a man. I found this in a magazine that talks about a man’s worries on getting old- we shouldn’t be (I like #11 by the way).

Stiff Anticipation

November 1st was spent at Everest Hills Memorial Park. This has been our family’s routine for three years now every All Soul’s Day. We usually spend, not just one, but two days of silent prayers and small talks beside my father's grave.

As soon as I got home early morning of November 2nd, I started reading Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight’, the first book of the Twilight series.

Goodness, I fell in love right away- not to Bella of course- but to Edward! The coming ‘Twilight’ movie that every lady in the office is talking about is just a supplementary to my excitement. Though yes, I can’t wait to see Edward (played by Robert Pattinson.. awww) on the big screen.

By the way, guess what I got after reading the first book?- stiff neck! Grrrrr..!

Is there a gay vampire? Just a thought… =)

career or family..?

Which is more significant: career or family? This is probably one of the most difficult questions for some people… including myself. But still- my choice will always be my family.

Whatever I do, career-wise, is for my family because they are my foremost priority in life. And that is why I always make sure that in every significant occasion each year, I am always with them. Other than that, I’m not the only one who is working in the family so I always try to make certain that we get the chance to see each other and have lunch or dinner altogether during weekends.

Last Saturday was [inevitably] an exception. It was my youngest sister’s 18th birthday celebration. I came late to her party because I have to be present in a very important certification training. I have to sacrifice 80% of my sister’s debut party to obtain the certification that I need for my own development and is part of my KRA (primary job responsibilities).

I told that to my sister and she understands my situation. I know that this is one of the most valuable events in her life because the fact that we don’t have our father anymore, seeing the remainder of our family will make her night COMPLETE. The realization is… there are so many cases of regrettable situation that sometimes force us to choose the less desirable pick. But what can we do? I mean we have to learn that at times, our family would hold us back from a lot of things and opportunities in life. We can’t just suddenly decide on what really we want to do because we have our family who needs us and must be placed into consideration as well.

It doesn’t mean we have to care less about ourselves. It’s just that- Life will be better if we know how to manage the unstable influence of our career and our family.

Surprisingly, because of too much time being spent at work, I never had the chance to watch any movie last month, or shop for at least one piece of not-so-fashionable apparel, or even dine in a classy resto with friends.

It has been soooo busy (and messy) at work lately that I almost forgot I have a blog.

Last Wednesday night when I went to Festival Mall, I was about to buy an aftershave balm when I noticed the big poster in front of a clothing boutique- Akihiro Sato and some more shirtless men wearing Penshoppe’s new line of undergarments. Hu-wow! But of course, I have to continue walking and look somewhere else (mahirap na pag tumulo ang laway.. hehe).

As soon as I arrive in the office, I texted a friend of mine and asked about this ‘new’ stuff from Penshoppe. Less than a minute, I got a his reply: “Jusko ang tagal na nyan noh!, i-email ko sau mga pics ha, wait lang…”

And poof!... the posters are in my inbox, great! With some behind-the-scene images that he downloaded from Multiply daw by someone named ‘kaaat’.

So I realized- why not share the pics? I’m pretty sure there’s always ‘somebody’ who will appreciate this. **wink**

Why I Fired My Secretary...

Last week was my birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up on that morning.I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my wife would be pleasant and say, "Happy Birthday!", and possibly have a small present for me.

As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone "Happy Birthday."

I thought... Well, that's marriage for you, but the kids... They will remember.

My kids came bounding down stairs to breakfast and didn't say a word.So when I left for the office, I felt pretty low and somewhat despondent.

As I walked into my office, my secretary Jane said, "Good Morning Boss, and by the way Happy Birthday!" It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered.

I worked until one o'clock, when Jane knocked on my door and said, "You know, it’s such a beautiful day outside, and it is your Birthday, what do you say we go out to lunch, just you and me." I said, "Thanks, Jane, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go!"

We went to lunch. But we didn't go where we normally would go. She chose instead at a quiet bistro with a private table. We had two martinis each and I enjoyed the meal tremendously.

On the way back to the office, Jane said, "You know, It's such a beautiful day... We don't need to go straight back to the office, Do We?" I responded, "I guess not. What do you have in mind?" She said, "Let's drop by my apartment; it's just around the corner." After arriving at her apartment, Jane turned to me and said, "Boss, if you don't mind, I'm going to step into the bedroom for just a moment. I'll be right back", "Ok." I nervously replied.

She went into the bedroom and, after a couple of minutes, she came out carrying a huge birthday cake ... Followed by my wife, my kids, and dozens of my friends and co-workers, all singing "Happy Birthday".

And I just sat there...

CELL PHONES CAN AFFECT SPERM QUALITY , RESEARCHER SAYS

Keeping a cell phone on talk mode in a pocket can decrease sperm quality, according to new research from the Cleveland Clinic.

"We believe that these devices are used because we consider them very safe, but it could cause harmful effects due to the proximity of the phones and the exposure that they are causing to the gonads," says lead researcher Ashok Agarwal, the Director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine.

In the small study, Agarwal's team took semen samples from 32 men and brought them to the lab. Each man's sample was placed into small, conical tubes and divided into two parts: a test group and a control group. The control group was unexposed to cell phone emissions, but kept under the same conditions and temperature as the test group.

The semen in the test group was placed 2.5 centimeters from an 850 MHz cell phone in talk mode for 1 hour. Researchers say that 850 MHz is the most commonly used frequency.

I’ll admit it… after watching the first few episodes of Gossip Girl, I got hooked. And I can still remember the effect: inadequate sleeping time, making me look worn-down or awful as I travel to work then flaunt a “you-took-a-bath” look before conducting training. What’s going on with me? I don’t know. I just want to feel “high-school” again.

And on Monday, the premiere episode of Gossip Girl Season 2 will be aired. That’s in the US though. Here in Manila, as of yet, I don’t know if it will be shown in ETC or Star World or whatever local channel. So puh-lease, if by any chance you know the schedule- send me a message. I don’t want to end up buying the second season from my suking dibidi-dibidi vendor again because that's what I did during the first season (sshhhh)..!

I'm posting this because really... it's worth reading. A reflection forwarded as a spam but with "value"- as it talks about the right mind-set workwise.

Reflection...

Looks like some people will never be satisfied with what they've got. When it comes to the work place, dissatisfaction can be seen at both ends. Employers do not know how to appreciate their people who have served them loyally through the years and employees who do not know how to appreciate the goodness and opportunities given them by their companies. Both is unhealthy either way you look at it.

I’ve seen companies lose good people for the simple fact their leaders failed to show appreciation. Some managers and supervisors with big egos enjoy the fact that they have more power and authority than others do. They show, in the way they give orders and directions, that they think they are superior to the people in their charge. They get a kick out of displaying this superiority. People who do this are fools, and everyone but them knows it. They are never satisfied because they could not be satisfied even if their people perform well. Why? Because of their stupid pride and insecurity.

Some employees, on the other hand, seem to constantly cultivate the habit of seeing the grass as greener on the other side. They fail to appreciate the opportunities and the learning experience they are currently receiving. They want higher pay, higher perks and higher positions with absolutely no respect for proper sense and timing. People of this kind will never be satisfied. You know why? Because they are so busy wrapped up in themselves and, fact is, their self can never be satisfied.

Happy and productive people are always those who are "others-centered” rather than "self-centered." The greatest leader is not someone who throws his weight around. Rather, he is a servant.

As the bible would say, "He who wishes to be a leader should first be a servant."

Happy and productive people are also those who deliver their best. Their joy is derived from delivering a job that is done well. They know that others benefit from their contribution and when the company progresses, then everybody else gains.

Make it your business to be satisfied, not with the material things you can get nor through the people you can boss around but by the greatness you can reach by being a fulfilled and caring person. The really great person is the person who makes every person feel great.

Aim for service, not success, and success will follow.

Ooops, don’t get me wrong.. though I got an invite from my co-trainer Odie, I didn't go. I was on a vacation leave last week and came back to work last night. Guess what, my email was bombarded with soooo many blah-blahs about this event. And yes.. lots of pictures too, so I guess it wouldn’t hurt to post some of them. I can see names on these images so I’m giving credit too to avoid “lawsuit”, hehe.

Other than that, I heard and read so many views about Bench’s underwear show this year- most of them are negative criticisms, awww. I guess for the first time, underwear-show-wise, I made the right decision not to see it.

It was also “a blessing in disguise” (I don’t know if this is really the right idiom) that Jinggay and Meg persuaded me to go with them last Friday night: the usual activities-> skip-free pirated DVD hunting plus dining at Serye Restaurant plus watching Mamma Mia on the big screen.

See... sometimes it’s better to listen to some classic ABBA music than to see fully clad BULGES (really now)..! Ü

Lately, I’ve been watching Las Tontas No Van al Cielo (a Mexican telenovela being aired in ABS-CBN Channel 2, weekdays at 4:30 PM) before heading off to work.

It’s funny because I’m not a telenovela fanatic. Then I realized it’s simply because of Patricio, played by Valentino Lanus. He’s a damn HOT Mexican actor!

Made Of Honor in The Forbidden Kingdom

Reunited once again last Saturday with my movie buddies- JM, Jinggay and Meg. And yes, we watched Made Of Honor. What else should I expect with Jinggay and Meg..? (Ü) Their worlds revolve around Patrick Dempsey (sigh). Well, he has the effect.

One thing that I like in this film is that it focused on the male perspective of love. Not to mention that Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan gave their best acting as two inseparable best friends who never knew how deeply in love they were until it’s almost too late.

So, if you’re into chick flick type of film that is conventional and typical (but funny), then see this movie. I recommend, indeed.

When I get back home, I watched The Forbidden Kingdom with my sister. It was the DVD that my friend from US gave me last week. I’m not into Kung Fu stuff and I don’t enjoy watching martial arts films. But since I’m too stressed, and the weather is bothering me, I gave it a shot.

Guess what, it was a laughable film. A good collaboration of Jackie Chan and Jet Li. This may not be the best martial arts film but the movie delivers the fight sequences beautifully in every aspect.

You may be wondering if I fell in love with Michael Angarano? Uhm, almost. =)

Something to think (and thank) about...

Greetings to everyone! It’s been so long… (has it been really that long..??) Ü

Anyway, I had a busy weekend, including the week before this past weekend. Well, it’s not new to me. I have been used to this kind of lifestyle. Notwithstanding that I was on leave for FOUR days last week, I never had the chance to steal a good rest. What am I doing..?

All I’m doing and what I’m thinking is all about WORK. Call me a loyal and hardworking corporate bitch- I AM NOT. I just want all things smooth and sweet at work. And to tell you frankly, I barely sleep… except during weekends. I’m not proud of that. I just want to let you know that this “thankless job is important to me and I care for it so MUCH” (sounds familiar..? CAREGIVER! Haha)

But kidding aside, I really do care for my job. I mean, I learn a lot of things and there’s always variation in what I do. Even though I know for a fact that it’s not doing any good for my health because I’m consistently working on a night shift and I’m spending 10 to 11 hours in the office. But see, I can still blog! And I can still read my personal email, open my friendster/facebook, check my multiply account, and download some porn, joke. lol!

Do I get tired? Oh yes. Everyone gets tired. And we get to feel this even more especially when we’re growing older. Just like me, I turned a year older last week. I’m in my mid-20’s now and yes I’m still young yet I feel old. I guess that’s what you get when you burn out yourself at work.

At the end of each day I have these aching muscles and I’m drained. Still I AM THANKFUL. Why? Because it simply means that I'm still capable of working hard. Oh yeah!

Charice wows David Foster

Charice Pempengco performed in the live concert event at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino’s Events Centre last May 23rd. The televised show was a tribute to David Foster, 14-time Grammy Award winner songwriter and producer.

Charice executed her trademark pieces and gained standing ovation from the audience. Other notable vocal giants in the concert were Andrea Boccelli, Michael Bublé and Josh Groban. The show also featured acclaimed performers including Alicia Keys, Katharine McPhee, Kenny G, Brian McKnight and Renee Olstead.

I just hope Charice will maintain her humility and sweet character as she continues to make name in the international music arena.

Tonight is the battle of the two Davids. I would say that this would be the much awaited face off and could be the most-watched TV program before the month of May ends.

They both deserve the crown of the seventh American Idol. But even though the two Davids are equally brilliant, I still want David Cook to win the title. He’s extremely talented for me in such a way that he can modernize a song and makes it sound like his own. I mean, that’s remarkable talent isn’t it?

Alright… enough. Too much praises won’t do any good. Let’s just watch the show as David Cook brings home the bacon on Wednesday. =)
